Ginsan Meter Door Opening Sizes…. Gin-San Dixmor Drop in Replacements?

The question is…. Does a Dixmor LED 7 timer fit in the same location as a Gin-San GS-400 timer or the GinSan GS-407 timer?  I did not know the answer so I contacted the experts at Dixmor.

Dixmor said the Gin-San GS407 timer has a 2″ x 9″ display so basically there is no way it would fit.

ANSWER:  The Dixmor LED 7 timer will NOT fit where a GinSan GS-407 timer is.

The GinSan GS400 has the same height as the Dixmor LED 7 timer but the GS400 is 1″ wider.  Which I assume would allow for a drop in replacement?  But Dixmor’s official statement is they do not think the LED7 would replace either timer.

I hate to contradict the experts at Dixmor…. but today I measured the left and right meter door openings.  Each door opening was the same at 2 3/4″ x 1 1/2″ (I did not have my caliper so it is just close.  🙂 )  So the only variable is the mounting studs…. which are probably close or close enough?  (You could widen the holes if you had to.)  But…. Because both meter doors (above) are from GinSan.  I could also go so far as to assume that the one on the right definitely has the same mounting screws…. but I can not measure the door on the left to verify.  Why would Ginsan create a meter door which their own timer (GS400) would not fit?  But you can look at my pictures and use the 1″ measurement Dixmor said the timers were different in size…. but someone could assume they would be a drop in replacement?  Probably?  Maybe?  More than likely?  LOL  🙂  (Of course you would need a wire harness for the Dixmor timer…. but for some reason GinSan does not use wire harnesses?)

So if anyone knows for a fact if a Dixmor LED 7 is a drop in replacement for the GS400 timer let me know.  Also let the fine guys at Dixmor know.  It might help them out.  🙂

Just an aside…. the opening for the above meter door is 3 1/4″ x 1″ (again I would not start production on your timer add on…. this was done on a piece of paper and measure with a ruler later.  No caliper…. just an idea of the opening size. 🙂 )  This door is also the meter door for a Gin-San GS-31 timer…. which is the timer pictured next to it.

UPDATE 20160318: When emailing this guy back…. I believe I figured out why Dixmor says their timers may not be a direct replacement? Dixmor has no idea how you have your bay setup. You may have to rewire and probably bypass another timer to get a Dixnor LED 3 or LED 7 timer to work. Also you would have to purchase a harness for the Dixmor timer.

But harnesses are good…. and wire nuts do not count as a harness. LOL 🙂

So today I will cut a hole in my garage…. How about you? :)

ZDNet Article  This is how Google drones will deliver your packages, and keep your pets safe

I like technology…. that is why I picked an industry with the absence of progress and technology!  LOL 🙂  (The car wash industry…. except the “gated facilities” format but that is not really technology.)

This article is great and worth a read I believe…. the future will change the way stuff is done no doubt.

I was not an engineer…. only a computer programmer.  (But I might have had to do convoluted things also?  🙂 ) But you can tell by the article that an engineer came up with their plan….  🙂

Robo cart at the house, beacon signal, drone flying around, drops off of package, pickup locations, safe locations….  You get the idea…. a 100 step process seems silly but I assume it could work? Employees are expensive…. but usps employees are the most expensive. They have a retirement package. 🙂  (But I highly doubt they can or would ever get fired.)

But I have been to a ghetto house before (could have been in a movie) with a chain link fence, toys, misc trash and dirt and weeds all over the yard with no sidewalk…. a pit bull on a chain and a huge dilapidated porch.  No clue how the robo cart and flying drone could save the day there?  Unless they do “profiling” of people?  LOL 🙂 Honestly I would not want any of my equipment flying into that house or that section of the city.  🙂  Crap the Police do not want to even drive there…. how would that work?  According to a Police investigator there has been numerous shoot outs on that street?  He said he was even in one…. but apparently no one gets shot?  Which is good!  LOL 🙂  But it is the beginning stages of drone tech!

The most valuable coupon of all time! LOL :)

2016-03-05_06-14-38

Why on Earth would you need a coupon for Regions (of all places) to give you a “Personal Banking Review”?  Like they could charge money for that service?  LOL 🙂  What I honestly do not understand is why anyone would ask anyone at a Bank for financial advice?  I hear banks (I never go into a Regions) give advice all the time? I have talked to a couple knowledgeable Bankers in my life! Do not get me wrong…. a Region’s corporate lady…. and an oldtimer branch manager that PNC fired or he retired. Otherwise everyone I have talked to I would not ask for directions to my car. Scary they touch my money. 🙂 (I am mainly talking about business loan workers and branch loan managers…. etc.)

As an aside…. when you see someone that is wearing a suit. Ask yourself this question.
What does that person do? (This will answer the question 99% of the time.)
1) Works at a bank
2) Sells cars
3) Works for a rent a car place
What other profession mandates wearing a suit? Why banks and rent a car places?

I was very surprised it was a great year this year!  🙂

Just a note…. you need to have a 1095-a, 1095-b and/or 1095-c or the GOVERNMENT WILL STEAL MONEY FROM YOU!  Supposedly a $600-700 fine for NOT having health insurance?  Why?  It is actually a waste of money for mid age people in good health…. $600-800 a month…. you better get sick!

All I know is the Health Care system is totally messed up…. I worked in the HMO industry as a computer programmer.  I think the largest issue is the Government regulations…. How about that?  Also (I hate to get political…. because I do not follow politics, current events or vote. Which makes me feel better. 🙂 ) but if Hillary Clinton worked at a HMO and was sending emails like she did…. unencrypted…. blatantly defying company policies and not within HIPPA guidelines.  (She did as bad or worse.)  Well there is a double standard for politicians and that is why the “do not call list” is a direct list for politicians to market to.  🙂

Like Paw Patrol says “Ice and Snow I’m Ready to GO!”

Well not the whole Paw Patrol says that…. only the outcast Everest says that.  She is the new pup from the 4th season.  Plus everything closed early today (Ever State run facilities.) and it did snow!    So quit trying to compare!  🙂

I was actually not prepared…. the temperature dropped so fast. I went outside old fart style and had to run to the garage to Transform into Fireman Sam!

Okay…. My wife disagrees with me…. but I think I should wear my Thorogood Hellfire boots to my Daughters next school field trip….. so I could fit in with soccer Moms! Really who said Hunter boots were cool? They are only cool for pressure washing or working in crap?  Plus one note…. running after kids with Thorogood boots was like running in normal steel toed boots.  To compare cheap rain boots…. well I never tried running because I did not want to kill myself.  Just a thought.

How to hook up a Dixmor LED 3 and Dixmor LED 7?

LED 3 left, LED 7 right

led3led7

Someone called me today and wanted to purchase an used Dixmor LED 7 timer from me…. (I actually have 3 BTW.  🙂 )  But 1 is actually messed up.  The person had a Dixmor LED 3…. I know these timers hook up the same.  But if you look at the manuals from Dixmor…. they appear different or could be confusing?  This is because of the inconsistent perspective Dixmor used to illustrate the back of the timer.

The only change which she pointed out was pin 8 and 9.  Which I never really paid any notice to…. but did realize that on the new Dixmor LED 7 those pins are used for credit card acceptance.

The first 2 pictures were from a timer that was shipped with a Cryptopay acceptor.  The next 2 pictures are from a new older Dixmor LED 7 timer which looks the exact same with the same firmware.

Minnesota? I thought Broadway Equipment actually sold more units? (Needed local distributors.)

wpid-20160106092522-1.jpg

I saw a Broadway service truck today and the truck had Minnesota tags.  I guess that is why you should always ask who is supporting your equipment.  🙂  (I am in Alabama. BTW)

I actually like the Broadway unit…. The Buff-N’ Shine Polisher it does a great job.  Looks like you hand waxed the car.  My problem was they are expensive for a unit you have to babysit.  Really is not fast…. you have to prewash.  Also if I remember right…. the chemicals were expensive?

Actually my Dad – Marc Wilson is a Broadway distributor.  But that has no influence why I thought the unit was good…. it probably does have something to do with him purchasing it?  LOL 🙂

UPDATE:  20160107  I checked out their website and…. they sell lots of random items now.  Maybe they use to years ago  also?  I believe…. I am referring to the “Auto Butler Buff N’ Shine Polisher” being good?  They have a mini tunnel thing, a flex wrap and a touch free auto (does not seem to fit their line of products?)  Not sure what their target market is either?  I thought it was car dealers?  Looks like they are also shooting for oil and tunnels?  All supported from Minnesota I guess….  I am just kidding…. Futura or Specialty Equipment distributors would be able to support the equipment also.  I am just kidding!  Bad car wash joke I know!  LOL 🙂  Well it made me laugh….  maybe you should also?  BTW I thought Minnesota only made cheese?  🙂

Well I got my copy about a month ago…. I am a little slow.  “Do your Walls Look Ancient?”  Why yes they do….  I believe all car washes look Ancient and outdated.  I guess I am the wrong person to ask?  LOL  🙂  I mean lets be honest…. except the Tommy Wash building.  Every car wash since they have been a box have looked the exact same.  I am also taking about lame express car washes.  (This is why I made the exception for Tommy Wash.)

The only other good looking building which was different and was an exciting design…. I have ever seen was the Lighthouse design. Which Autec had a patent/contract on supposedly?  Tommys wave thing is very cool also but the roof supposedly is flawed?  That is just what I heard…. also having the controls in the wash bay under the flawed roof?  Well that is just the stupidity I heard.

LOL…. I Honestly did not know they put Antennas on Cars anymore! What are Antennas for again? LOL :)

Article
This was damaged at a car wash…. but seriously why is their an antenna in the first place?  It is amazing what you notice when you look for something.  Apparently antennas are an American thing?  Except for Toyota SUVs and Trucks?  Could be wrong…. I honestly thought they did away with this antiquated technology.

But all joking aside…. seriously besides people over 80 years old who needs an antenna?  I wonder if my radio even work?  Why do I care?  LOL 🙂  Whoops…. Another joke.  🙂
