Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

IMG_4921.JPGIMG_4925.JPGIMG_4928.JPG

I never know where I am when I am driving and sometimes I get lost going home.  So I purchased this Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS for my new car.  I have a gps in my other car and it really helped me a lot.  This gps is touch screen and is faster then my in car unit.  The screen is small but it is very portable.  The satellite pickup is excellent; probably better then my in car.  It cost about 20% of my in car unit also.

Man this fab work is top notch.  The bolts with the arrows (second picture) needed to be grinded down.  Also the lip on the bar.

Now the lock actually fits!  The only problem is the top of the lock.  I should do something to make it look better?

Drilling into steel is a pain.  Maybe that is why my crappy Skil drill gave up today?  It overheated or something.

Honda Fit 2007 – Response

Greg posted a comment on my last Honda Fit post:  “I thought you were cwguy? No self-respecting SS cwguy buys a car. You could have at least bought a Honda Ridegline. Only full serve owners are allowed to drive cars.  It™s in the ICA rule book. Full serve also get to wear expensive Italian leather shoes. But most of them are gay, or at the least very effeminate.”

I like the comment but the car can get me to every car wash owners last resort (Home Depot) and unfortunately I go here too often.  (Note to self do not wear Italian shoes around Greg.  He might take away my Man card.)

Off Pelham Parkway, Shell gas station wash

This location is off Highway 31 where 52 intersects 33.  Note for the link the Shell gas station is to the left where the truck is.

I think the self serve might be closed down?  Along with the air machine, Rowe changer, D/H vendor and automatic?  I like the items left in the D/H vendor before they pulled the plug.  Can you guess?  Of course “Royal Pine” Little Trees and fake Rain-X.

I think I took to many pictures. The place was nice, just nothing worked.

They finally got my car in from some other Honda dealership.  Black on black: a car wash owners dream customer.

IMG_4772.JPGIMG_4774.JPGIMG_4780.JPGIMG_4785.JPG

The first picture is the car when it had a red pin stripe (they removed the stripe).  I got the base model with the power package.  My only options were a plastic cargo mat and the cargo shade.  It did not come with mats, but I had one BMW mat in mint condition (I found it at the car wash).  I think I am going to purchase the plastic Honda mats.  I hope the car will get the 38 mpg on the highway like it says.  I am getting about half that now and I need premium gas in my other car.

The first picture is my organized truck the second picture is my new setup.  It is about the same amount of room as my normal car but the seats recline now.  My parents in law really helped me out on this car and I think it should save us some money.

Meter door break-in – Update

IMG_4742.JPGIMG_4745.JPGIMG_4746.JPGIMG_4748.JPGIMG_4755.JPG

I purchased a crappy socket set.  Why does a replacement wrench cost $20 and a 75 piece set cost $35?  I finished installing the spacers and the lock actually fits, it just needs to be supported.

IMG_4758.JPGIMG_4760.JPGIMG_4762.JPG

I messed up my cutting blade and did not have a spare.  When I was removing the blade, the nut that holds it on to the grinder fell off and rolled directly into the pit, about 5 feet.  What bad luck.

IMG_4763.JPGIMG_4764.JPGIMG_4767.JPG

I installed one side of the support for the lock.  It was getting late and I had plans so I quit.

The plan is to add spacers and 2 1/2″ screws so the lock will fit correctly.

IMG_4732.JPGIMG_4736.JPGIMG_4730.JPGIMG_4716.JPG

When I was trying to install the spacer I broke my wrench.  Of course this was the only socket that fit and I have an incomplete socket set.  What bad luck.  I learned some more important lessons today:  1) Drills can catch when drilling steel.  I have a busted finger to prove it.  2) A vise would be nice to have because pliers can slip off the steel and get caught in your shirt and bruise and cut your boobs.
