Foam brush solenoid problem

IMG_3108.jpgIMG_3111.jpg

The good news is I fixed the solenoid problem.  It was very easily to do with my finger.  The bad news is I would have to keep my finger there forever.  So I decided to figure out what the problem was.  Their was a short in the wire and I rigged it up until tomorrow.

New solenoid bank install

Well this old solenoid bank drank the last 10 gallons of tire cleaner that it will ever drink.  I really don’t like dumping good tire cleaner down the drain, so this was the last time for this thing.   This solenoid bank keeps sticking and I really don’t understand why.  It keeps moving from bay 1 and 2.  I would clean 1 then 2 would start, then 1 or 2 would drink all the tire cleaner overnight.  This happened three times and countless cleanings.  I think it is possessed?

So I swapped it out with a solenoid bank that I purchased from Greg.  The solenoids are larger and when I installed them they didn’t work.  Note the red arrows:  this solenoid bank has metering.  Wow! this drove me crazy figuring this out.  But I should have figured it out at first, not after disassembling everything twice.

Self Cleaning Solenoid?

IMG_2865.JPGIMG_2869.JPGIMG_2871.JPG

When tire cleaner is just coming out of the high pressure gun it is bad news.  I was wondering what happened to all the tire cleaner in the equipment room?  The next 2 pictures are the solenoid and the piece of trash that caused all the problems.  It also came out all by itself.

Lots of RO problems

Nice little leaky hose.

Another RO problem was when anyone used the RO water, bay 3 got RO water also. This was caused from crap in the solenoid. My RO system is wired to only run when someone activates it in one of the bays.

Every time I touch something on the RO system something has to break. So the brass push lock fittings started to leak. I removed the last 4 left and installed plastic push locks. Done for now, I won this time RO system!

Why reading sometimes is good?

Yes, I already got this fixed before.  Yes, I might have broken it while installing it the first time.  Yes, I think Dixmor is the best for repairing stuff.

So I installed the DX-1000 Weep Mizer which means that I had to remove my Rube Goldberg weep system.

I purchased an Asco Red-Hat II normally open solenoid.  After installing the solenoid I needed to attach the 3 wires coming out of the solenoid.  I decided to install the 2 red wires to the black wire and the green and yellow wire to the white power wire.  This was the wrong way and not cutting the power first caused a huge mini-sun flash.  It also turned my glove black and shocked me pretty good, making my pinkie numb.  I closed my eyes and I could still see this bright light.  Then after installing the wires correctly I figured out that I installed the solenoid the wrong direction.  The solenoid would not close all the way when installed the wrong way, who would have thought?  So the moral of the story is to try and read the instructions after you get shocked?

Why PVC is not always a great idea?

IMG_1761.JPGIMG_1748.JPGIMG_18003.JPG

I had to replace the 1/2″ schedule 80 pvc elbow with a metal street elbow today, because of a small leak.  I am going to replace the solenoid later so I did not replace all the pvc for now.  I guess the weep solenoid (sprinkler system solenoid) may have worn out the pvc (from cutting on and off) and caused a small crack.

I also installed the last Flojet pump.  Now I just need to put the last 2 Flojet pumps online.

Coleman Fragrance Vacuum Problem

IMG_1611.JPGIMG_1615.JPGIMG_1617.JPG

I replaced all the barbs with Parker 1/8″ x 1/8″ push lock fittings.   (I purchased from Grainger like MEP1 told me to.  Thanks)  But I am having a weird problem I can not figure out.

2/3 fragrances work, the one that does not work really should work though.  This is what I tried.

1)  Checked the wire from the timer to the solenoid with a voltmeter.  Works

2)  Button works and makes a sound when pushed, the air also keeps running when the button is pushed.

3)  When I rewire (hot wire) frag 2 to frag 3 (broken) the solenoid will work fine.

4)  When I rewire (hot wire) frag 3 (broken) to frag 2 the solenoid will not work.

5)  Swapped the timer with another fragrance vacuum.  Still does not work.

6)  Ground seems to be all connected fine to the solenoid.  Checked with voltmeter.

7)  Rewire from the timer wire (wire harness) to the solenoid and still did not work.

The only things I did not check:

1)  Voltage

2)  Rewiring the wire on the wire harness to the solenoid.
