Remington Chain saw upgrade for weed removal

IMG_6112.JPGIMG_6137.JPGIMG_6120.JPG

I upgraded to the Remington 3 hp with 16″ bar thing (107624-01) it cost an extra $15.  The last picture shows the free smoke that was included with no change.  (It must have been trapped in the motor or something?)

I got through the stump then ripped it out with the power of my Honda Fit.  Then I cut it all in manageable pieces so I could pick it up.

The stump was really a good size; I have size 13 shoes on.  I also used this time with the Mimosa tree to learn about Dendrochronology (which is the scientific method of dating trees based on the analysis of tree-ring growth patterns).  When I chopped down the larger of the two limbs I counted the rings as shown in the last picture.  I learned that the Mimosa tree lived way to long and should have been killed way before its 10th birthday celebration.  As a birthday party, it shed all its pink flowers and made an awful mess.

Remington Chainsaw for weed removal

You know it is quality if it cost $45 (M15014AS).  Well it is better than a circular saw.  It is a 1.5 hp with 14″ bar thing.

This chainsaw was a lot of trouble cutting down this Mimosa tree.  It was about as much work as using the circular saw (it is underpowered).  I kept having the same problem; the chain would fall off  (minor problem)?  Also, the oil chain bar thing was broken.  But it did an okay job.

Have I said that I hate Mimosa trees yet?

This post demonstrates why you should cut down trees with a chain saw and not a circular saw.  This is limb 1, no problem.

IMG_6066.JPGIMG_6067.JPGIMG_6078.JPG

This is the second limb that I ripped down with the massive towing capacity that the Honda Fit has.  The second picture is the circular saw with a sawed off cord.  (Not sure how that happened?)  So after the circular saw problem I was done for the day.

I hate Mimosa trees (large weeds)

IMG_5958.JPGIMG_5962.JPGIMG_5960.JPGIMG_5966.JPG

I hate these large weeds and I can say that cutting them down with a circular saw takes a lot of work.  I also hate the pink flower things that fall everywhere.  I need to purchase a chain saw.

I was searching the internet and someone actually is trying to sell Mimosa trees ($5 for a 6′ to 7′).  If you purchase 5 Mimosa trees for $10 a piece you get a free business link on their site for a year.  Cool!  Check it out for more details:  http://www.texassam.com/mypoems.htm

Hamilton Changer problem

Another coin jam.  There is an indention right around where it jams all the time.  The plastic needs to be replaced.  I am trying out another hopper and it is working fine in that changer.

Flojet push lock problem – Update

I swapped out the check valve today.  It was fun.  Luckily I have had plenty of practice changing out all the other bays.

Looks like everything was fine with the D/H check valve.  The last picture was interesting though; the inside looks cracked.  Not sure why that would affect anything though.
