I hate these small meter boxes. It seems like they are constantly causing problems. This is a broken fuse holder that exploded when I closed the door.

I have seen the boxes from Savona and they are very cool looking.
They are very spacious to work in and are very user friendly.
I think your problem isn™t so much the size of the box as it is the stuff dangling loose inside. Get rid of that crap barrier block, mount a good terminal strip on the back wall, mount the relay properly and put the fuse on the transformer in the pump room.
