One of my customers tried to fix my high pressure hose problem with a towel and some electrical tape. I guess it worked pretty good? Looks like the hose was cut somehow twice and one of the cuts was deep enough to cause a leak. I just replaced the hose.
That looks like a break from the wire braid rusting. That’s the reason I quit using hose guards, because you can’t see if the hose is damaged and about to break. I haven’t had a broken hose in three years because I examine them daily and replace them before they can break.
