  1. Dunno, but I have seen relays similarly come apart in old Trace Engineering power inverter/charger units after they’ve been running in non-climate controlled environments for about a decade. In the Trace units, the plastic degrades and either spalls bits that land in the contacts causing a failure, or they admit dust to the contacts which causes a failure (unit becomes an inverter only, charger only, or extremely low grade hum generating device only).

    The Trace units are not the easiest things to get apart for repair but the customers I’ve fixed them for have always been most grateful. 🙂
