Honda Fit 2007 – MPG update

IMG_5494.JPG

I got 45.6 mpg today and 502.2 miles on one tank of gas.  11 gallons of gas ($32.80) and it was under $60 unlike my other car.  That is really pretty good; twice as good as my other car (20 mpg average).  The Fit gas tank is 10.8 gallons, according to the manual, so I did pretty good not running out of gas.

Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

I never know where I am when I am driving and sometimes I get lost going home.  So I purchased this Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS for my new car.  I have a gps in my other car and it really helped me a lot.  This gps is touch screen and is faster then my in car unit.  The screen is small but it is very portable.  The satellite pickup is excellent; probably better then my in car.  It cost about 20% of my in car unit also.

Honda Fit 2007 – Response

Greg posted a comment on my last Honda Fit post:  “I thought you were cwguy? No self-respecting SS cwguy buys a car. You could have at least bought a Honda Ridegline. Only full serve owners are allowed to drive cars.  It™s in the ICA rule book. Full serve also get to wear expensive Italian leather shoes. But most of them are gay, or at the least very effeminate.”

I like the comment but the car can get me to every car wash owners last resort (Home Depot) and unfortunately I go here too often.  (Note to self do not wear Italian shoes around Greg.  He might take away my Man card.)

They finally got my car in from some other Honda dealership.  Black on black: a car wash owners dream customer.

The first picture is the car when it had a red pin stripe (they removed the stripe).  I got the base model with the power package.  My only options were a plastic cargo mat and the cargo shade.  It did not come with mats, but I had one BMW mat in mint condition (I found it at the car wash).  I think I am going to purchase the plastic Honda mats.  I hope the car will get the 38 mpg on the highway like it says.  I am getting about half that now and I need premium gas in my other car.

The first picture is my organized truck the second picture is my new setup.  It is about the same amount of room as my normal car but the seats recline now.  My parents in law really helped me out on this car and I think it should save us some money.

Miscellaneous pictures of the day

Today, I cleaned up and found out I did not install my garden hose correctly.  What is funny about this is I found a fitting on the ground by a garbage can and found the original in the equipment room.  The last picture is my dumpster.  I unlocked the dumpster but did not open it and left the lock like it was still locked.  I went in the equipment room to clean up and when I came back the lock was gone and someone dumped some crap in the dumpster.

I think it was old car day today?  (Middle picture) This guy somehow purchased two boxes of crap and was riding a bike?  That makes no sense; he was going through all his new items.  I did something productive today, I attached four reuseable high pressure fittings.

What year is it?

The 2007 VW Jetta's lights do not automatically shut off?  My car's lights turn on when it is dark and off when you turn off the car.  My last two car's lights turned off automatically also.  Where is the German engineering?  Not super low tech crap.  To be fair maybe the car is base, who knows?  Well, in the morning I figured out how long it takes to charge a battery.

The first picture is the correct position to move the switch after taking the keys out of the car.  The second picture is me excited after the car started.
