Twice the ICE – Ice House America

IMG_0562.JPGIMG_0568.JPGIMG_0564.JPG

Have you ever wondered how a Twice the Ice, ice machine / vendor worked? Have you ever wanted to watch a video on how Double the Ice comes out of the little house? I know, why would you? But I made a video for the one person that is interested. I get a lot of people searching for information so I thought, why not make a video?

I Love Jesus air freshener

I know I must be overlooking where to purchase these, but I can’t find them.  I find these ever once in a while on the ground but I would like to purchase some.  (Disclamer: I believe that Jesus does not condone littering.)   Little-trees.com sells a different design (right image) but I like the yellow one better.

Check valve problem

IMG_0991.JPGIMG_0994.JPGIMG_0998.JPGIMG_0999.JPGIMG_1000.JPGIMG_1005.JPG

I am having a check valve problem so I replaced it today.  I took the check valve apart to see if I could figure out what was wrong.  The valve was on tire cleaner and there was no crap stuck in it.  Maybe the spring in messed up?  Or probably a check valve is stuck in a bay but I can not figure it out yet.

Home Depot compact fluorescent / mercury vapor replacements

Image018.jpg

After the MEP1 / Bill comments on my last fluorescent bad idea, I though maybe someone could help me with this question.  So, I was at Home Depot (because I go every other day) and saw these compact fluorescent / mercury vapor replacements.  This looks like an interesting idea.  Has anyone used / seen these before?  The Home Depot sales person said they were the best thing ever.

Bad signs

IMG_0788.JPGIMG_0789.JPGIMG_0792.JPG

The pressure gradually dropping and a constant stream of chemical coming out of the foam brush is always a bad sign.

While trying to get the solenoid valve off a leak occurred in the valve.

Wreck Squad of the East Side?

IMG_0843.JPGIMG_0845.JPGIMG_0847.JPG

I really hate getting tires but it was not as bad as getting the Wreck Squad from the East Side tagging your place.

IMG_0864.JPGIMG_0866.JPGIMG_0883.JPGIMG_0878.JPGIMG_0884.JPG

I guess the squad is new and they tagged the upscale downtown area (above pictures)?  But they have a website and they seem to not be from Wylam.  They must fly to Birmingham to show the Wreck Squad from the West Side who is boss?

Honda Fit out of gas again?

IMG_0889.JPGIMG_0903.JPG

So I guess I am a moron again.  My little car somehow ran out of gas.  So I decided to use my Magellan skills and my trusty Garmin gps device to blaze a short cut through some neighborhoods and the woods.

IMG_0895.JPGstand_by_me[1].jpg

When I got to the railroad tracks all I could think of when I was trying to find an easy way up the bank was the scene from Stand By Me and the song.  But there was no bridge and train.

IMG_0899.JPGIMG_0900.JPG

When walking down one of the train tracks (I had to get over 2 tracks) I found whatever this is.  It looks kind of important for a train?  But I am not a conductor.

IMG_0901.JPGIMG_0902.JPG

It was an adventure of a lifetime.  I saw a broken down outhouse and horses on some farm like area.  All I know is I thought I was going to get shot or find a “dead body” (bad joke from movie?).  Well, after my hour of hiking and navigating the back country, I gave up and I may have called for a ride back to my car.  I do not really remember.

Cross threading pvc, Cool!

 IMG_0522.JPGIMG_0528.JPGIMG_0536.JPG

I cross threaded my elbow pvc piece today, then I had to go to Home Depot again to purchase a metal elbow.  I needed to add an elbow to allow the weep solenoid to stop all the water.

IMG_0539.JPGIMG_0545.JPGIMG_0548.JPGIMG_0549.JPGIMG_0553.JPGIMG_0551.JPG

I can not figure out why this solenoid does not work.  It looks like the spring is messed up.  But why is there another spring in the solenoid base (last picture).  I just replaced the solenoid with a new spare one.

 IMG_0537.JPG

Also when I was trying to repair the weep solenoid I messed up these crappy brass fittings.  I love when fixing one problem causes other problems.
