Don’t you hate it when you see a leak and when you turn off the function you can not find the problem?  It seems to always happen to me and I think it is about time to purchase all new hoses for the wash.

New solenoid bank install

Well this old solenoid bank drank the last 10 gallons of tire cleaner that it will ever drink.  I really don’t like dumping good tire cleaner down the drain, so this was the last time for this thing.   This solenoid bank keeps sticking and I really don’t understand why.  It keeps moving from bay 1 and 2.  I would clean 1 then 2 would start, then 1 or 2 would drink all the tire cleaner overnight.  This happened three times and countless cleanings.  I think it is possessed?

So I swapped it out with a solenoid bank that I purchased from Greg.  The solenoids are larger and when I installed them they didn’t work.  Note the red arrows:  this solenoid bank has metering.  Wow! this drove me crazy figuring this out.  But I should have figured it out at first, not after disassembling everything twice.

Car wash supply purchase

I need to start documenting my purchases better so I do not purchase the same crappy products all the time.  So….first the FedEx guy gets my stuff off the truck…

The 2 powder chemicals that I purchased were:  1) JBS Hydro White Powdered Tire & Engine Cleaner from Kleen-Rite for $47.57 (JBBX5401).  2) JBS Frenzy Powdered Presoak from Kleen-Rite for $52.54 (JBBX5201).

I have already purchased this tire cleaner before and even though it says white it is yellow.  Also when you dilute it according to directions it is too weak.  So this is the cwguy tire cleaner mix.

First I added 30 gallons of hot water.  Next I opened the garbage bag and scooped out some powder.

IMG_3157.jpgIMG_3161.jpgIMG_3175.jpgIMG_3183.jpg

I blended it all up and ran it for 30 minutes and pumped it out.  I think that I added the powder too fast because the last picture shows all that was left at the bottom.  It made a total of about 34 gallons.  I will let you know what it looks like when I use it.

Making powder presoak

This is JBS Frenzy Powdered Presoak from Kleen-Rite for $52.54 (JBBX5201).  This product looks just like the JBS tire cleaner.  It also looks the same when mixed up and it costs $5 more.  Now this might have been really stupid so check out what I did next.

I have gotten complaints every time the tire cleaner it not yellow and the presoak is the same color as the tire cleaner.  So I added some red hyper concentrate tri-foam to turn the color anything but yellow.  So I got orange and the last picture is all that was left in the drum.  This time I gradually added the powder instead of dumping it in faster.

Now I have around 46 gallons of ORANGE presoak.  That is a first?

Last known photo of my Toyota hub cap for my Honda Fit

IMG_2802.JPGIMG_2804.JPGIMG_2805.JPG

Well it’s official: I lost my Toyota hub cap again.  I think it is gone forever.  But I did find this 15 inch Toyota hub cap, too bad I need a 14 inch Toyota hub cap for my car.  Maybe I can trade someone?

I have very fond memories of my Toyota hub cap.  Like the time Greg was washing my car: he was showing off his tire cleaner and how well it worked.  It worked so well that large chunks of paint came off the hub cap.  You should have seen Greg’s face…those were the days.

Self Cleaning Solenoid?

IMG_2865.JPGIMG_2869.JPGIMG_2871.JPG

When tire cleaner is just coming out of the high pressure gun it is bad news.  I was wondering what happened to all the tire cleaner in the equipment room?  The next 2 pictures are the solenoid and the piece of trash that caused all the problems.  It also came out all by itself.
