Big Air compressor problem!
When I opened the equipment room door today the air compressor motor was running but there was no air pressure. The air compressor belt broke, which was the first time a belt broke on me. The funny thing was I could not find the belt, only some little pieces.
How not to remove a pulley? – Update
After Mep1 told me I was heating up the wrong thing, I took his advise and heated up the pulley this time. I believe that my problem is the wheel puller end that goes on the shaft is too fat? The last picture shows the furthest I can pull the pulley off.
I also beat the pulley with a hammer after a chunk of the pulley flew off and I picked it up like I was retarded.
Speeding tree?
I got part of a tree that was cut down today. I also found a speeding ticket. I never will understand this speeding ticket scam. This is how it works: 1) You are driving your car at the speed you want. 2) The Police do not approve of the speed you want to drive. 3) Short buzz cut guy writes you a ticket. 4) The carbon copy technology does not work and you can not read your ticket. 5) (This is the scam part.) You have to pay for a reprint of the ticket. What!
The moral of the story is: if the amount you have to pay is low, it is okay for low quality tickets. If the ticket amount is high, I expect a nice copy detailing my driving abilities. Maybe the city should get the non-legable copy and you get the original?
crap, Erie Brush, gang, graffiti, grasshoppers, grill, prime, and thrift store.
Signs to help you out!
First picture: You would start getting angry because it is graffiti. Then you read it and it says “Not A GanG Just Graffiti!” then you feel better. Who really cares that they vandalized the building and it looks bad? (This was on the thrift store building when I gave them my never used 10 year old assembled grill that I must have moved 8 times.)
Second picture: I really like the colorful vacuum hoses that I purchased from Erie Brush. So do the grasshoppers.
Third picture: I has driving to my car wash and noticed this sign. So, if anyone needs a gas stove give them a call.
Water coming out of the equipment room!
FYI: This is always bad. It’s never good when water it coming out of the equipment room. A high pressure hose burst.
Update: Full service? 9th Avenue
I was driving past this full service wash and noticed they updated their sign. Not really sure what the December 27, 2006 date is for. The sign also seems more confusing? The original post is here: http://cwguy.com/?p=1111
This is the entrence of the wash. I guess when the place is open they move the truck?
This is what you see before you enter the “tunnel of doom”.
If you make it out of the tunnel this is their road sign.
These pictures were taken with my iphone not a Holga (sorry for the extremely bad photography joke). The iphone can take good pictures then terrible pictures.
$6,192.00 water bill!
The Birmingham Water Works messed up on my bill and about 15,000 others. But it was kind of shocking when you open the mail and the bill is $6,192 instead of around $100. The billing date was 05-19-1920 and the due date was 06-02-1920. This event made the news and the official said “it was a computer problem”. Really? I thought they were hand written.
Mark VII makes the most inaccessible self serve unit ever?
I know I am always complaining about my Mark 7 self serve equipment, but it is only when I need to try and fix something. The first picture shows the solenoid and needle valve that brings the wax to the high pressure water. I needed to remove the needle valve, which sounds easy. You just have to take the solenoid all apart and everything is so cramped, it is just terrible. The second picture shows; on the left the high pressure soap solenoid valve and on the right the wax solenoid valve. The high pressure soap it under the motor and is even harder to get to then the wax. I hope that Mark 7 has changed some of this layout. But I guess the previous owner could have did this?
Fixed an air compressor today
I fixed my air compressor at Wylam today. Then I dropped another air compressor on my foot while swapping the spares out.
Craftsman table saw
I think that this Craftsman table saw is a piece of crap, model number 137.218240. The motor can pull wood chips into the table saw motor, seems like a bad design. But that was not the problem.
I decided to check the power switch. When I opened the switch cover it had sawdust in it. The last picture shows sawdust in the wire terminals. I took them all off and cleaned it out than everything was fine. Terribly bad design.
Lawn mower
LOOK! I finally caught the person that mows the road. He also picks up random kids on the way.

I just built a system that fixes the problem of pressure you are referring to. The answer is 2 fold. 1.VFD+ Pressure 2.Monitoring Sensor. Set up where VFD runs at say "40%" putting out 150psi. Then have a sensor that is inline (before manifold) to when a second bay calls for product, and pressure drops, it senses this, and increases the VFD to say 50% to make up for the difference, and retain the 150psi. So on, and so forth depending on how many bays you have. It will take some tweaking, but once it is set, it is set. Also, you only can have a maximum of 5 ports open at once, even if you have 6 different functions, as each bay can only have one selection running at any given time. Email me, and I can give you more info, and / or if you want to buy one rather than build one. It is a very expensive "trial and error" job, as the VFD, pump, and sensor have to do the job right, and give the correct pressures. They will not share any of their tech, as they want us all to buy from ...
Did you know.... You can purchase the "quick disconnect" injectors from "Hydraflex™®? ©" (don't want to infringe on ™®? or © :P) , however you cannot purchase the quick disconnect adapters from them. Hmmmmm? Isn't that nice? Why not? Oh, that's right you can, if you purchase one of their "Aqualab™®? ©." TEN THOUSAND dollar units. Then, they will sell replacement parts for it, which include the quick disconnect fittings. Very frustrating to say the least. IN A STORY NOT RELATED -> If you want to never ever ever worry about check valves again, look into the icheck magnum series which you can buy from Kleen Rite (low ph, high ph, and high pressure) Also, if you are tired of replacing brittle, cracked, sun-drenched, winter haggard poly line, step up and buy the parker (or equiv.) "air brake" line (type B, reinforced). it will last for over 20 years in a carwash, and will outlast stainless steel when running corrosive product thru. I have been running HF thru it for over...
I love your sense of humor, but everything is in the details of any business what separates the strong from the weak is just a few minor details. But that few can be huge, for instance I love Arbys for their sandwiches, but many years ago their facilities were just run down and dirty, back then I would never go to the bathroom in one. Instead I went to Mcdonald's to go the rest room. Now in current time Arby's has gotten the idea that a very clean and modern facility with upgraded equipment will bring in customers. They even have open wifi in many, so that being said a business is the true salesperson it projects an image. Now one must ask yourself what image do you want to project to the public. You yoursef as a owner of a car wash or any business must be the salesman, because without a sale no one has a job. Mike...
I don't think you read the post. Maybe since your not a car wash owner you didn't get the joke? But your a sales person so... :) Maybe in Ohio the government is more restrictive I don't know? But when the government lets people start businesses that they want. Unforgettably to many people have built car washes because of sales people. Which makes them bad investments... so depending where someone is from you will get your desired remarks. Also you are selling a high priced item so only car washes with money would call you... another fact. So of course they would be making money. I also disagree with 90% of your statements except the place should be clean. You do not have to purchase top "knotch" equipment. You can run a super car wash with any equipment on the market. But again your a sales person. :) But I strangely want to purchase a boiler now.... JK LOL :)...
I have met many car wash owners that do make money in the car wash industry. Here is what I have found they are very organized, they buy top knotch equipment, they maintain it everyday, they check their water everyday, they ask for help when needed. Many are true salespeople they get out and meet the customers give them hugs and attend community events. And lets not forgot about having a very clean facility, customers love neatness. Mike Simmons, Vice-President...
